Gift Wrap... scrapper style!

Sorry I haven't posted all week... I have been a busy little bee ;)

Here a few pics of my son's 2nd grade teachers birthday gifts we bought for her. It is a $25 Starbuck's gift card enclosed in a black polka dotted picture frame with her initial embroidered in hot pink (her favorite color combo!). I wrapped it in one of my favorite colors (Tiffany box blue) and a beautiful and simple cream grosgrain ribbon. Add a homemade card and voila... scrapper style ;)

Peach Crunch Cake~Recipe Layout

OMG- when I saw these fat little chef salt and pepper shakers I was hysterical! They are THE cutest little things :) I used to collect salt and pepper shakers (surprise - surprise- me collect something!) and I could swear I had their likeness in a vintage set. Ok. So anyway. I got this fabulous line "Made From Scratch" from Moxxie and knew I had to adorn a fantabulous recipe with these very papers! I used the entire collection, how could I only chose one PP - the colors rock! Table Service (the chef's), Freshly Picked, Home Cooked, the stickers and the rub-ons.

This is bad, I know, but I can't recall which blog I found this delightfully easy recipe! Maybe Bakerella, perhaps Pioneer Woman... hmmm, was is Our Best Bites????
Seriously... aren't they the cutest?

St Patty's Day cards!!!!

I went on a card making binge earlier this week and made the most darling ephemera vintage St. Patrick's Day cards! Here is the inside of my sweet lil' Irish lady card, it contains my favorite Irish blessing! I smile whenever I hear it recited in a true Irish brogue! Isn't this little lad adorable? His walking hat and shoes are 3D! Once again, my beloved Irish blessing.
One can never have too many clovers on their St. Patty's card, can they!?!?!
Thanks!!!

Guest Designer for MOXXIE!!!!

I submitted a few new projects to Moxxie (here is their nifty blog: http://gotmoxxie.typepad.com/), using their fabulous, new line of paper and embellishments, Joy of Baking. Ya'll know I love to cook and bake and scrap... it was like the line of paper was made for little ol' me! My first submission was an altered $.50 tin recipe box I bought at a second hand store. It actually had a sweet little tagged all typed up that read DESSERTS, so I thought it befitting to make it a dessert recipe box in it's new life! It even had a vintage recipe stowed away inside! As my second project, I thought it best I pay homage to the recipe card and jazz it up for the new recipe box!!!!
So I the moral of my story is ... I was invited to be a guest designer for Moxxie! Ok, there is no lesson learned there, but definitely some exciting news I wanted to share with my blog friends!!!

All Dressed Up!

The boys were invited to one of their neighborhood friends Mardi Gras themed birthday party this weekend. The invitation suggested they were Mardi Gras colors, so we decided to jazz them up and head on over to Children's Place! They have the best spring clothing lines for the boys (boys are so very hard to shop for!). And these green, yellow and purple linen shirts and ties that represent Mardi Gras are actually their spring colors! I kid you not, I actually squealed with pure delight when we walked in the stores and saw these shirts and ties hanging on the wall display! I am very easily satisfied :) Zach looking spiffy in lavender!
Nicky, never looking into the camera, looking dapper in yellow! (Yes, my 3 yr old is wearing SILLY BANDZ! ugh!!!!)
My oldest, Johnny, born to pose and smile for his Mother, looking distinguished in green!

I Love You ~handcut minibook~

I made this precious little mini album a few years ago for Valentines Day. I used miscellaneous chipboard and cut out the hearts by hand, scraps of PP, stickers, paint and chipboard cutouts (Rusty Pickle).
I thought the journaling called for my very own handwriting!

and ribbon and pom poms - oh my!

Robo-Valentine-Male-Box

So I have this friend, Jeni. Jeni makes art. Jeni is an awesome artist. Jeni is a phenomenal artist. Jeni is creative and brimming with ideas. Jeni shares her ideas. Rachel adapts Jeni's ideas into kids projects rather than real art. Rachel loves Jeni for sharing her ideas! http://pinestreetjct.blogspot.com/ <--------- This is Jeni's blog. Run. Don't walk over to her blog. There is a link to her Etsy shop. Stop by Jeni's and say HI! Tell her Rachel sent you :)
So now that you know all about Jeni... here is Johnny. Johnny is modeling his Male-Box, his Valentine receptacle. Let's just say .... I, uh, helped! Most Mom's get all flustered and dash out to the store when the kid comes trotting through the door with various projects like this... not me. I am a scrapper. A paper artist. I am a paper hoarder. I am ready for any and all craft projects that come waltzing off the school bus!
And I am pretty puny, too!

~Valentine's Gifts for the Teachers~

I promised to show you something fun with my ten cent tea cups... I used them for the teacher's Valentine gifts from my boys :) I filled some cello bags with Valentine colored M&M's and added a pretty bow, homemade tag and a silk rose and glittery heart pick. I am very pleased with this little trash to treasure idea... hope you find it nifty, too!

Here are a few gifts for the boys gifted and speech teachers. The box/ bag is a set from Dollar Tree (in the wedding favor area) that I adorned with some purdy PP and Cricut hearts! Inside is a feast of Dove Caramels :)
My Sweetie tag.
Share your links for your favorite Valentine's gifts right here! I am always looking for that next creative spark!!!!

Sweet 16 Invites ~Seeking your ADVISE~

Here is a snippet of the Sweet 16 Birthday Invites I am making for my son's 2nd grade teacher's daughter (you got all that?)! I was given carte blanche but needed to make a prototype for her approval. I was a 16 year old girl many moons ago and would have been happy with Donnie Wahlberg's body shot as my 16 birthday invites... today's girls on the other hand, I have no idea! I hope this flies! My original plan was to use hot pink Bazzill and black velvet ribbon but there was no black velvet ribbon at Michael's and I forgot I needed hot pink and bought light pink instead! My neighbor liked the invites and even ohhed and ahhhed them but my hubby felt it necessary to critique them and said it was hard to read the vellum with the light color! Last time I ask his opinion! Just kidding!

So I am writing this entry and begging for your input. Please let me know what you think! Before you ask for a better view of the invite, I purposely cropped it so you would not see all of Laurie's info! I 'erased' the numbers and addresses but the picture looked too sloppy, I figured a cropped photo was better than a whited out version!
Any who- thanks for your advise!!!!

XOXO~

Junkin'

Look at all the goodies I scored today! I was en route to my local farmer's market for some fabulously locally grown strawberries for breakfast when I noticed a dilapidated piece of property, with a bazillion sheds and tons of junk, with a YARD SALE sign at the drive. I passed it the first time, a bit scared. But the second go round, I couldn't resist the urge to pull in the dirt road and ignore my better judgement. I got out and quickly surveyed the tables. This was a treasure trove! I couldn't believe my eyes... milk glass flower containers for a dime!?!?! Was I having a tag sale day dream? I summoned the nice gentleman and asked for a box, I told him I would be loading it up! I kept my promise.... Isn't Toto sweet? I noticed he had an itty bitty piece of his ear chipped off, but I love him just the same! He was only $.10!
I loved the colors for a Spring vignette, it is chipped and a little to grody for me to even think about putting anything consumable in. But I couldn't pass it up for a DIME!
Vintage Christmas picks, ornaments and cupcake decorations- all for $.25!!!
Dainty little sugar jar :) It is also marked Eggshell Georgian Homer Laughlin, Made in the USA (WOW!) It is also numbered, J46N5. I will be Googling this in a little bit!
I actually scored 4 Milk Glass vessels today- I think it was less than $2.50 for all 4!!! The larger ones are marked E.O. Brody, Cleveland Ohio. I have to check them out!!!!
More Milk Glass - $.10 (OMG- I died when I saw it was a dime!)
$.10 each! I already have plans for this little sweetie... stay tuned!
Gorgeous tea cup by Noritake China, made in Japan (that is funny- something that says China NOT made in China!)
Smaller rose platter....
2 rose/ floral chipped platters $.25 each!
Precious milk glass coffee mug :) Man, I just can't wait to sip my Pike's Place out of this sweet little treasure! $.25
Weather-worn hat rack- $.50
Rusty movie reel - $.75
Half a cup of coffee, what a hoot ;) $.10
Old game dice - $.10 for the set of 4
Old Milton Bradley card game, Millie Bornes - $. 25
I actually bought several more FUN things but didn't photograph them since my Vintage ABC swap pal, Jeni is a blog follower! A majority of this haul is being mailed off to her in Iowa but I bought quite a few of these treasures for myself! And I already have plans for the tea cups (Valentine gifts for my son's teacher... come back to check it out!)
