Are ya'll ready for Halloween?

Just kidding! Or am I!?!?!? Those that know would have to think twice about me being ready in August for Halloween :) Anyway, I am in the most terrific Vintage Halloween ornie swap over at 2Peas, hosted by my pal *Pegsters*, Peggy. And I finished my submission!!!! I had a few different ideas, polar opposite ideas, at that. I made a few prototypes, none that made it to the final product! And ended up making these little cuties ....The pumpkins are 3D with a foam sticker behind each one for a little bit of added dimension.I used 2 different images for my ornies because I loved them both equally as much ad didn't want to have to chose one over the other (maybe that is the Mom in me!). The lids are off of them to avoid the glare in the photos but the have kinds of a vintage looking glass feel to them.

Fry Boxes ....

Boy themed fry boxes.....The Basketball Star
The Birthday Giftie
The All Boy
Here are the Halloween themed fry boxes:
The Itsy Bitsy Spider
The Spookie
The Ol' Black Cat

I thought I would try my hand at these handy dandy fry boxes I have been seeing lately. I saw a wonderful example in the 2peas and SIStv gallery from Cobb809 and knew I had to try it! So I looked up a template (pattern) http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/462697 (to be honest, this is the same pattern but not the one I book marked on my desk top) and cut out my PP and Cardstock and now I have 6 little gift boxes ready to brighten someone's day!

Zach's Candy Buffet Birthday Party!

Here is the candy 'buffet' :)
I made the centerpieces. Notice the toothbrushes and the aspirin for the Mommies!!!

My treasured Carousel gumball machine that I found for $6 at Goodwill just for the party table! Thank goodness my nephew is mechanical, he fixed it for me, to not take money to work!
Birthday boy at the party table!
All 6 of the cousins (first cousins, that is) Ages ranging from 29 - 3 :)
I LOVE that my nephew not only would buy a Cookie Monster shirt but that he actually wears it!!!
Me and my guy!
Part of the food table.... the pizza hadn't arrived yet.
The other side of the food spread.
The Cookie Cake... he actually got 2 cakes. I had to buy them last minute since I had cancelled the original party being at our local YMCA play area... it included a cake! Our Y had 2 confirmed cases of the Swine Flu so I exercised better judgement and cancelled the party there that morning and scrambled to re-locate it all here at the house. Hence, I needed to find a last minute birthday cake. I found a ready made cookie cake and the cutest Sponge Bob Square Pants cake in the bakery case at Super Walmart! What 7 year old wouldn't want 2 different kinds of birthday cake!?!?!?!
Zach and his buddy Olivia.
Happy Birthday to you......
Candy time!!!
All the party go-ers patiently waiting their turn to fill their boxes FULL OF CANDY!!!!
Present time.... a Marshmallow Shooter, lmbo! My kid is a sweet-a-holic and this was the PERFECT gift for him! It actually says fun for the whole family on the box! Are we all supposed to stand in line like a firing squad with our mouths open!??!?!?!? Ah, Bakugan, what boy doesn't like Bakugan!

Pasta Salad

I made a quicker version of my pasta salad for my sons birthday party tomorrow. I used 2 boxes of Tri-Color Roteli, cooked as directed on the package; a can of pitted olives, that I slice into a few pieces; a strained can of chick peas; a diced tomato; a diced fresh red pepper; a full bottle of Good Seasons Italian Dressing and 1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese ....
Strain the pasta and the cans of olives and chick peas.
A few of the goodies waiting for the rest of their fellow yummy ingredients!
All tossed and ready to chill in the fridge for at least a day! Re-mix before you serve! A few tips, it is best to make it a day ahead for the ingredients have a chance to marry. I prefer yellow pepper but couldn't find it at the Farmers Market. I also add chopped pepperoni the day I serve it :) You can add Provolone cheese for a little something extra... I don't really like it, so I leave it out!

Enjoy!

I had a vision for an art project!

Ever lay in bed, trying to fall asleep and an art project starts swirling around the ol' cerebral cortex? It does with me all the time! I woke up this morning and decided to art on it :) I grabbed several magazines from my stash and began punching colorful little 1 1/2 inch squares! I laid them out, rearranged them, adhered them, rearranged some more and framed it! Instant burst of happy, rainbow-y goodness in about an hour! Shwwwweeew, now my little brain can rest easier!

Oh, the joy of a kids birthday party ~preparing~

So Zach opted for an active party at the YMCA. They are going to close off the kids play area and reserve it just for big man's 7th birthday party! He chose a BASEBALL theme, complete with a baseball cake but Mom (that's me!) decided to do a candy buffet instead of mega loot bags (loot bags are included with the party package, but I usually go way over board with OUR party favors!). We went to a friend's birthday party about a month ago and her Mom had a wide assortment of candies on a 'buffet'' table, similar to walking into a bulk candy store at the mall. I fell in love with the idea! I usually don't jump on someone else party ideas BUT this one was too cute to avoid for the sake of pride! So the photo above is about 80% of the candy we will be 'serving'. After we inventoried it, we decided we still needed to get a few more bags for variety.
Yes, we are going to be responsible party hosts and give each kid a brand new toothbrush, too!
I found this awesome Carousel gumball machine at Goodwill a few weeks ago and thought it would be a rockin' table decoration at Zach's party! Hubby dismantled the entire thing and I scrubbed it, sadly when it was all put back together, we realized we had been had and the darn thing doesn't work!!! But, hey, it still looks cute for $6 !!!!
God Bless my nephew! Eric and Jessica found these Chinese Take-out style favor boxes at Walmart this weekend and called to tell me! Needlesstosay, I hoped in my car and met them there! It was only $1.50 for a sleeve of 6. YES, Mama will be decorating them a little to personalize them for Zach's party!
The "Y" provides balloons and decorations with their party packages BUT I just had to get party blowers (my kids are nutz and LOVE getting these at party's!!!) and Mylar centerpieces. All found at Dollar Tree, for, yup you guessed it, a buck each!
Finally ... the lollipop centerpieces! I made 2 that look identical and they each hold 4 bags of lollipops each!!! I made the pinwheels from the AC paper pack, Celebration. The balloon, cone shaped ice cream sundae cup, aka, the vase and swirly straws are from the Dollar Tree.

TFL! And come back this week for more updates on the party prep!

Week of Cards ~Day Seven ~ Gift Card Holders

Hello Kitty (die cut from a previous Hello Kitty swap participant) card has the money holder slot in between the pink PP and the black Bazzill. Plenty of room for some cash, too!!!
I love this boy-ish airplane paper! I think it is clean and simple... the GC holder is in the front of the card for instant gratification ;)

This card is specifically a movie or video rental store gift card holder. The birthday boy or girl will enjoy opening the card and finding a little pocket inside with GC tucked right inside!

Well that concludes my week of cards! I hope you found something inspiring to add to your collection of cards! I ended up with a photo box organizer full of various occasion cards without even intending too!!!! Thank you for all the wonderful comments!
