Sunday Dinner : Meatballs/ Homemade Sauce {recipe}

You will need a pound of ground beef and a pound of ground pork; one egg; 1/2 cup grated Parmesan; 3 tbsp garlic powder; 1 tbsp salt' 1 tbsp ground pepper; 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning- for the meatballs. mix all the ingredients together with CLEAN hands. Form into golf ball size balls.

In a heavy skillet, brown meatballs in hot olive oil. Make sure you browned all sides of the meatball.
For the sauce you will need : one can crushed tomatoes (must be crushed); 2 tbsp Burgundy wine; 3 tbsp Italian Seasoning; 3 tbsp garlic powder; 2 tbsp salt; 2 tbsp ground black pepper; 1 tsp sugar. You need to add sugar in any tomato based dish to cut the acidity.
Saute browned meatballs for several hours of VERY LOW setting, the lowest setting. If the heat is too high, the sauce will burn because of the sugar content of the tomatoes.
We opted to make meatball subs for dinner since I bought a fresh Italian bread! Add your fav cheese, Parm or Mozzarella (that is what hubby likes), I prefer NO CHEESE on my sub! Broil until the cheese melts (make sure to watch it carefully!)
ENJOY!
