Easter Table

I love pastels and enjoy decorating for Spring and Easter so I can show off some of my favorite pastel pieces!
Any excuse to have an appealing array of candies and chocolates!
My beloved Melamie coffee cup and saucers that I purchased for a dime a piece last Spring from a junk sale out of someones barn not to far from my house!
My Mother-In-Laws silver with basic everyday dishes and enamel Easter egg dishes.
All that's missing is the ham and scalloped potatoes!
But I do have plenty of eggs!
(They are actually faux eggs from Michaels... I bought them to put in a jar in my far/ rooster kitchen!  But for now, I like them on my Easter table!)
My pretty "cheat" cookies that I bought from Super Walmart.  I say "cheat" because I plan on adding them to my homemade Easter treats on Easter Sunday.  I will fess up if anyone asks if I made them, but only if I am asked!
Simply gorgeous!

Chic Spring Tiered Dessert Tray
I can not tell you how thrilled I am to have made this vintage style dessert tray!  I am over the moon!  I bought the Noriaki tea cups (a little chipped and well loved) from a yard sale for a dime a piece last Spring.  The plates also came from a few different yard sales, I doubt I paid more than fifty cents for each one.
The bottom mug was brown that I spray painted white to lift it a little higher than the rest of the cups, this way it can house cuppy cakes or Napoleans!
I adhered everything with Gorilla Glue.  Man, I love that stuff!!!
Not to sure, but I may add something whimsical on the top tier but I have to go thrift hunting first.  Oh, no, did I ust find the perfect excuse to go junk hunting!?!?  Silly me!
I do have to give credit to Super Walmart for my prop cookies!  The white chocolate covered shortbread cookes were irrestiable with the lime green polka dots!!!  And my boys favorite sugar cookies were a hit with the pastel sprinkles on top!

Mini Easter Treat Baskets

I purchased these plain baby blue polka dotted treat baskets from the baby shower section, the white shredded paper and the glittery bunnie stickers from Dollar Tree.
I added pearl beads for the bunnies eyes ...
And fun matching ribbon!  Now all I need is a few delicious pieces of chocolate and they are ready for the teachers!

A new banner Spring-ing up!

If I had a nickle for every banner I have made over the passed 4 years, I would have a heck of a lot of banners!!!  {Giggle giggle}  Banners are an obessession of mine.  Kind of like cards, easy and rewarding projects!
Sorry that the photo is a little washed out.  But you get the gist.
"S" with a vintage floral sprig and a generous amount of pink ribbon, both thrift store finds.
"P" with my favorite green ribbon and a plastic wedding dove and a dressed up pearl button!
"R" with a few of my thrift store roses and more pearly buttons!
"I" adorned with a gorgeous glistening buterfly (Michaels) and more thrift store floral sprigs.
"N" with more roses and pearly buttons.

"G"  with more of the spring pink ribbon and a delicate pink bird (Michaels).
I started out with my crepe paper medallions and a variety of my larger chipboard letters, vintage baby blue lace trim and matching Martha Stewart card stock and pastel scrapbook paper.  I finished them all off with a gathering of scalloped punched circles and a brad to attach the circles.

Crepe Paper Medallions - Part 2 - Fresh Spring Palate

As you see, once I started making these pretties, I just couldn't stop (so true with anything I like... I can't stop!)
Doesn't this medallion scream SPRING!?!?  I was only originally going to borrow this apothecary jar from my Spring Tablescape just for the photo but I loved it on the jar so much, that is where it is staying until Easter!
I found a set of 3 buterfiles at Dollar Tree and a set of pink sparkly ones including large and small (small shown here) in the Spring French section of Michaels for about $2.50.  The pearls around the vintage button are apart of the mega jackpot grab bag from Good Will I wrote about yesterday.  The large pink ribbon also came from a Good Will Grab Bag and I had the lime felt ribbon.
Another medallion with one of my Dollar Tree butterflies. I used mini white cupcake liners in the middle. The pretty yellow butterfly ribbon came from my swap partner in Denmark several years ago.  I actually forgot about it until I went in my yellow ribbon jar after the main medallion was completed!  It is THE perfect finish to this little pretty!
More pearls down the paper ribbons attached with blue Stickles!  The butterfly was in one of my embellishment jars.  Springy and simple!
I made a few book page flowers a few weeks ago and set them aside... well, voila... I finally had a use for one!  The center of my medallion!  I also used a few pieces of pretty light sage ribbon and a few borders from K&Company called Cut N Paste... found here http://www.eksuccessbrands.com/kandcompany/Products/Cut_N_Paste_Adhesive_Borders_30-591912.htm  I love them, so vintage and random!

Vintage Book Centerpiece

I love hunting for vintage hardback books at my local thrift store and altering them!  I also LOVE making paper flowers and mini banners.  BUT I adore making centerpieces!  Even if I make them for no logical reason!  This lovely book started out as a beloved and worn hardback copy of Black Beauty.  I fixed it up so that it glorified the love of reading and romance of getting lost in a novel!
Nothing says Spring quite like pastel vintage lace and soft tonal paper flowers!
I love this harlequin patterned paper that I found in my brown scrap bin!
I think it was a perfect fit for this project!  But I am also a wee bit biased!
A view of the Vintage Book Centerpiece on my office bookshelves
(you may have noticed it in my Expedit blog entry a week or so ago!)

The start of something more beautiful...

I *LOVE* altering vintage books!  I keep every scrap of paper.  I hoard every stitch of left over ribbon.  I look at the ordinary and use it in alternative ways.  I love making something pretty from something mundane!
I created this little gem from a $2 book I bought at my local thrift store.  Beneath it's covers lays Black Beauty.  I made a centerpiece with Spring in mind and this pretty little stack of pages is the focal point!  Stay tuned for more details on the entire project!

Here is the finished product!  I made a beautiful arrangement dedicated to the art of literature!
Not only did I use a $2 thrift store book (what a deal for a vintage Black Beauty!), I used my vintage lace trim and buttons, pages from another vintage book and old clothing patterns as a filler inside the tin.
